Err.. HP isn't everything. (whoa!)

The torque factor between the 318 and the 360 is
enormous... 300 vs. 345 ft. lbs. The gains I got on
my 318 only give me approximately 30-35 ft. lbs.
over stock, but the real world difference is really
apparent. Now, the 220-230 hp of a 318 vs.
250 hp of a 360 is a 20-30 hp gain. The 360
mill is roughly a stock 360 engine (save 5 hp over
the same engine in the Ram-- that's right a ram
is rated at 245 hp). Now go with a set of headers,
a better intake (TB and/or 'ram air'), you'll net
another 15-20 easily... Now you're up to 265-270 hp,
add the computer (when and if it becomes available),
and you could be pushing 280 hp. In addition of the hp
increases, the torque #'s will jump up too.. Figure another
25 ft. lbs.... 345+25= anybody? anybody? 370 ft. lbs. of
torque....280 hp.... A V10 RAM runs about 300 hp, and
410-425 ft. lbs. (last I heard).... The 360 is very close,
weighs a LOT less than a V10.... And even for a gas-guzzler,
will get better mileage than a V10 hands down.

C'mon, the RT is a truck... a sport truck, and aside from the
new Lightning with the supercharger, and a Syclone with a
Turbo...the RT is the quickest normally aspirated truck (OEM).

Plus, when was the last time you saw a guy pulling a 21'
Jetboat (502 Az Marine w/Dominator) with a Syclone?? or
a Lightning???

>If you re-read my previous post, you'll see I didn't say that a V10 was
offered in a R/T. The 360 is the base engine for the 3/4 ton RAM 250. Since
it's almost the same size/weight as the 318, you can put it in the R/T and
get a couple more hp cheap. There never has been much of hp difference
(about 20) between the 318 and the 360. Since my 97 (318) isn't
underpowered, I don't see how a much lighter R/T can be underpowered with a
360. It is a TRUCK engine. Look at what you can tow with these
engines...especially the 360 in a RAM 250.
