According to my calculations, a 275/60 R17 tire should be about 30" tall:
(275 / 25.4 * .60 * 2) + 17 = 29.992"
On a related note, I'm working on yet another program for the DML Home
Page; this one is a wheel and tire calculator, which will be able to take a
lot of the guesswork out of this whole process. It'll be able to give you
the dimensions of a tire, compare two tires and give you the speedometer
error, rearend gearing change, rpm change as you cross the line, tell you
what wheels will minimize speedo and gearing changes, etc.
Its about 2/3 done. (and 2/3 to go...) ;-) I'll post a message to let
you all know when its ready for prime time.
