My 92 LE Has raised letters DODGE stamped in the tailgate. Applied to the
raised letters are red reflective stick-on letters.

I think your body shop substituted a later model tailgate for you.

I beleive there were three tailgate versions in the gen II Daks. The first
was like the 91-92's. The second (Unsure of years) had the raised letters,
but no reflective stickers on them. They just had plain vinyl stickers over
the letters. And last but not least, the newer pre-97 trucks had small DODGE
stickers on the upper right corner of the tailgate, and nothing stamped in the
sheetmetal.

If this could be verified, It would really help identify year models from a
distance.

Hey Jon, How about a database of distinguishing characteristics for
identifying dakota year models on sight. I know the bodies didn't change, but
the badging such as "V8 5.2L MPI", vs. "V8 Magnum", and "LE" vs. "SLT", the
tailgates, etc. changed several times and should be relatively easy to track
to year models. Just a thought!
