Sam and all those who said to push the panic button again are correct.
Pushing the unlock button (as I suggested yesterday, because that's how I
could have SWORN I turned it off last time!) will not do it. I tested it out
yesterday evening (much to the amusement/annulment of my neighbors) and I
confirmed that it is the panic button again. Sorry for the misinformation!

I believe if you set off the security system not using the panic button, the
unlock button will turn it off. This may be where my confusion stemmed from.
I'll try that one out tonight (somewhere more abandoned than my apartment
complex parking lot!) and will let you know my findings...

Push the panic button again and it stops.
