Bob,
I'm not sure how 1988 and 1998 2WD Dakota's compare, but for what it's
worth, I'm running the following configuration on my '98 SLT club cab
without any sweat whatever: BFG Comp T/A 255/50 ZR's on Centerline
17x8" "Hammer" billet series wheels.
I believe I could have gone up to 315 tires on the 17X8" rims in the
rear without any problem.
