On ALL c-notches you must cut into the stock frame rails. With the frame
supported front and rear and without the bed in place, the cut out
section is replaced with a c-section that's either prefabbed or you can
make one simply enough. The section is then welded into place and
reinforced, making the frame as strong, or stronger than stock. A
c-notch allows the rear end to travel in those areas that would
typically be used by the lower section of stock frame just above the
axle tube.
