It's my understanding that you must swap in the same model year or newer
engine into any vehicle to stay on the good side of federal, state and
local EPA and motor vehicle inspection types.

It might be a somewhat difficult passing your next emissions test with a
n older 390 non-magnum engine, assuming that I've got my facts right.
