I had mine done a couple of months ago... When I called and described the
problem the service manager ordered the part while we talked (I had a
couple of unrelated questions) so I think this is pretty routine for 'em.

Don't know about a work order number but the parts ordered/installed were:

1.) 55351171-AB - Coupling
2.) 6504926-AA - Screw Hex
3.) 6101510 - Nut Flang

It's a quick fix that works... no rattle/noise from the steering after. Oh
yeah, I have a '98 4x4 just in case the parts are different.

T.

Nah, I don't have the paperwork handy, however, I took it in for
something completely different, the cab was popping, and they replaced
that shaft from the wheel to the rack. Didn't even fix the cab pop. I
did notice the bump when I turned the wheel, but hadn't even mentioned
it yet. I don't see a problem as the dealership should already be
familiar with this complaint, they've probably fixed a few. BTW, they
said that it wasn't dangerous, i.e., it won't break and leave you
without any steering. Alan S.

Alan
Doyou have the work order or TBS that your dealer might have given you.
Mine has a clunk or catch or choppy feeling at low speed and in the morning
when I first start it and its not as bad when it gets warm.
I know by the time I get to the dealer it will not have the clunk and I will
be trying to convince them it clunks!!! but they will be looking at me like
i'm slow and i can see for my self its fine.
I will then drive away and by the time i'm half way home the clunk will be
worse than ever.
Thanks
Bob
