I thought it would be cool to fill the bed with water and use it as a pool
in the summer. Unfortunately if you calculate the weight of the volume of
water, it is around 3000 lbs. if I remember correctly.

I use sand bags. Yep, I really need it. :-) My Dad had an
interesting idea the other day... Usually what happens is I buy sand
bags, but they only last a winter or two before the bag deteriorates and
you've gotta buy more. My Dad thought, why not buy something "useful" for
weight? For example, maybe some bags of potting soil or (if you're a
farmer) feed grain, or kitty liter, or... Then, you use it in the winter
for weight, and use it up during the summer... (Although some people
like sand bags because if you you get stuck, you can open one and try to
use it for traction.)

I've tossed around the idea of putting some sort of container in
the back of my truck and filling it with water. (like maybe a kiddie
wading pool, or something along those lines...) I've never tried it
though.

TTYL!
