Smog shops in CA can hassle you, but if you have the CARB exemption # then
you are in the right! I have heard that headers do not need an exemption #
but I would rather be safe than sorry. I carry them in my glove box...

I was talking to some of my friends and they told me that headers are
illegal
here in California. They said it wouldn't pass smog. Are any headers legal
here in california? Also, will my Flowmaster 2 chamber make my truck
illegal?
