Bruce for my rc the y-pipe goes all the way to the cat inlet. I cut off
all but 2" of pipe at the cat inlet, not disturbing the cat at all. The
Leach y-pipe necks down to the approx dia of the inlet pipe, close
enough to mig weld. On a cc the Y-pipe connects to the stock cat inlet
pipe with no cutting or at least, very little. I can't see a muffler
shop getting upset with haveing to weld the Leach pipes to the exhisting
pipes preceeding the cat, can you? Alan S.

Alan,
No, But you cant modify the cat unless it has been damaged... I dont know
what config Leach uses to get into the CAT, but all the shops in CA (even
the good guy hot rod exhaust places) wont modify the cat (change inlet
diameteres, put a single inlet front cap on it etc.) until 60K miles have
been clocked... How do the Leach headers route to the cat??? Does he have a
special One into two adapter??

Bruce, I live in TX so I don't know the CA rules, but the Leach headers
and Y-pipe have a CARB cert # and provide a sticker for underhood
inspectors. It says 50 state legal and the headers and y-pipe come as a
package deal, same box. Is there a specific rule against a new pipe
between the collector and the cat? Alan S.
