Hey Rob, Don't have a cow man!
I drove 'em all big or small when I was shopping for a truck and I am extremely
happy with my Kota BUT I wish the MPG was better when I'm not haulin', towin' or
wheelin'!
I'll continue to tinker, fiddle and bitch and moan about my poor MPG until I
find something that works. I wish I could develop a switch that worked
something like this:
Position Description MPG
1. Road eatin', chevy stompin', ford kickin', 6-8
fire breathin',"hide your women and children",
torque happy monster.
2. Gotta haul the boat, get some firewood, pickup 10-12
some gravel, re-sod the lawn, and finish that
stone wall.
3. Wife and kids in the truck and I'd sure like to 16-20
get 300 miles on a tank... There gonna' drive
me nuts if this trip isn't over soon ;-)
I'll let ya know if I get this switch to work :-) In the meantime I'll just
enjoy driving my kota!
T.

Subject: DML: Bad Gas Mileage
My only complaint with my 1997 Dakota 4x4 wth the 318 is the gas
mileage.
My experience and talking to others is that the Dakota is not gas
mileage "friendly".
Just my 2 cents worth,
Garret

Garret:
Most of us didn't purchase 4,000lb trucks with 230hp V8's because we
were looking for good gas mileage....I was looking for towing power.
The Dak gave me 50hp more than my 78 3/4 ton plus a 50% improvement
in gas mileage. Guess it's all how you look at it.
If fuel economy is your thing, suggest you trade the Dak for a
econobox pickup.
