Sounds like what I had unless it's a popping sound as opposed to a clunking.  The clunking can be felt in the steering column when it happens.  I have never experienced the popping sound so I don't know what it's like, but there is a TSB out for the popping sound.

Hey boys,

I have the same thing happen exactly as Ryan described it. It seems to
happen mostly in underground garages and driveways with slight inclines
when turning right only.
Does sound familiar to anyone?
