Overturned truck halts safety meet
TROY, N.Y. (AP) - A concrete company's safety meeting was interrupted when
one of the company's unattended trucks rolled 50 yards across a street, over
an embankment and into the Hudson River. A passing motorist called police to
report a vehicle going into the river Wednesday afternoon. Fire and police
officials didn't see any sign of the vehicle - until they spotted a set of
tire marks in the freshly fallen snow, leading to the river. At nearby
Clemente Latham Concrete, officials took a head count to determine if anyone
was missing. None were, but a Ford pickup truck, which had been parked in
the back of the company while the driver unloaded equipment, had vanished.
