r/t models and dealers that dont have a clue

I just joined the DML and would like to know how some of the guys have
99
RT's when Dodge only made a limited amount (2,000) in 98. According to
the
dealers in MA. they say that Dodge will not make 99 RT's. At least a
true
RT.

-Wayne,
Unfortunately, the dealers dont know a lot of things unless they read
all of the literature they get from dodge, and ask a lot of questions.
That is what is cool about the DML-we usually know more than the
average dealer, cause when one person finds out something from a dealer
that actually is correct, everybody here knows about it immediately, and
the dealers still dont have a clue!
For example, the rumors of a Dakota R/T type model have been
circulating since spring of 1997. In the fall of '97 we started talking
about the R/T model and what Dodge had leaked out about it. I went in
to a dealer in January and asked him about it. The salesman laughed at
me and told me Dodge wasnt couldn't put the 360 in the little dakota, it
must be the ram I wanted to see! I told him that he better do some
asking around, because it was coming. A week later, another dealer dug
out some flyer that was a 1 page color sales sheet showing what the R/T
option consisted of and the colors available. I ordered mine on the
spot!
It's just funny how we know this stuff and dealers dont, but I credit
that to the DML.
Now, you all ask, how come I dont own an R/T, but always talk about
the '92 V8 SLT and the '94 4X4 XCab V8, and never talk about my R/T?
Simple-my R/T doesnt exist! I was one of the lucky few that Dodge
decided to automatically cancel the order for the R/T for because of the
shortage of 360 engines (they were stuffing in the Durango's) By the
time the R/T was back into good production, it was mid-April. I
figured, I might as well just wait another few months until the '99
models are out, (plus I was hoping for the 4.7L) Now, I'm not sure to
get one now, on a 2 year lease, and then get the redesigned 2001 model
(who knows about this?) that will have the 4.7L and maybe a new hi-po
engine for the R/T, or wait until 2000 year and get the 4.7L in this
body style.....
  Choices.....
Patrick
ps. Tell the Dealer that they make a "True R/T" for '99, but only a
"True Dealer" can get them!!!
