Remote Oil Filter Installation

I would have to agree with Mr. Bridges, but there is more info to
know about a Remote Oil Filter Re-loaction Kit install process.

1. Make sure you use the correct AN size hose, not to lose vital
oil pressure from the motor to the remote oil filter.
   (AN-10 or AN-12 hose)

2. Make sure to use smooth radius turn AN fittings instead of
90 degree turn AN fittings. (loss of Oil Pressure)

3. Use Stainless Steel braided hose for burst protection of the
oil line and use heat sheeting covering for the stainless steel
hose to protect the oil in the hose from excessive engine bay heat.

4. All products can be purchased from Summit and other mail
   order companies. (EARL's)

5. The remote filter housing that holds the oil fiter can be drilled
and tapped for a pressure gauge to monitor the oil pressure at
   the remote oil filter.

Rich Jim et al,
I have installed a few remote oil filters on vehicles (non Daks) out of
necessity due to engine swaps or header clearances etc. You must be
carefull to get the right type of hose in the right length and route it
=
the
right way... What is right you may ask...=20
The stuff that comes in the kits is good hose for low temp =
applications. I
would thermally insulate it, even if it is steel braided (Im paranoid) =

The
length is determined by the mounting location of the filter head AND =
the
maximum torque rotation of your motor! DONT FORGET ABOUT IT!! This is =
key!
Route the hoses a little too short, launch hard, and watch your ride =
start
smoking under the hood. Big fire ususally ensues. (this is, =
embarrassingly
enough, from personal experience). Make sure you avoid exhaust system
components (including EGR pipes) or the same thing happens. I try not =
to
use remote filters if I can avoid it for the engine oil any more due to
=
the
drastic consequences of a "failure" for whatever the cause... more
joints/connections =3D more potential to leak! =20
