FIRST ENGINES BUILT FOR SVT-150 LIGHTNING PICKUP (PRODUCT EXCELLENCE)
Production begins today at Ford's Windsor Engine Plant on the specially
designed engine for the Ford SVT F-Series Lightning pickup. Ford's Special
Vehicle Team (SVT), Windsor Engine employees, Roush Engineering and the
media will be on hand to observe the initial production of the Roush-
designed 5.4L, Triton V-8. Additionally, Windsor employees will preview the
1999 SVT F-150 Lightning on display at the plant. The 1999 SVT Lightning
graces the cover of January's issue of Car and Drive Magazine. The
publication calls the pickup the "World's Fastest Truck." Lightning goes
into production at Ford's Ontario Truck Plant on March 1.
