Winter Mod's Revisited

I removed my FABM 10" and reinstalled the stock air system on 12/30 to see
if part of my MPG problem might be caused by "too much cold air". Well,
after about 500 miles, this ain't the problem! I was averaging ~12.2 MPG
with the FABM... Immediately after putting the stock air system back on,
and continuing until I reinstalled the FABM, I averaged ~10.71 MPG! OOPS!
Note that I did reset the computer (took the neg. lead off the battery)
each time I swapped out the air system. Also, my driving habits were
consistent after I put the stock system back on (mostly city driving with a
minor number of highway miles thrown in from tank-full to tank-full).

On a more positive note, taking the FABM off motivated me to fabricate the
highly touted "S Bolt"... It works great, looks great and didn't put any
dents in the hood!! (Sure glad Roberts back on the list :-) I also really
missed that sweet sound the FABM makes at WOT! All and all, I'm glad it's
back where it belongs.

While I was under the hood I figured I'd pop those Bosch +4's in... What a
b*!ch getting those old plugs out! I'd like to meet the gorilla that put
those puppies in and give 'em a good slap upside the head with the biggest
wrench I can find!!

For those folks in the northern states, don't be surprised if your old
plugs look rust red when you yank 'em out... I was a little startled 'till
I read that this is caused by a manganese (MMT) fuel additive that turns
them red but does not interfere with plug operation/effectiveness. Don't
know about the +4's just yet except to say that the engine started again
after I was finished! ;-)

End...
