I believe there's a soldenoid (I don't remember the specific name for it)
that increases the engine speed automatically when there's a greater draw
(such as when a/c compressor, or in this case, brake pump, is active). My
truck idles around 5-600 with all my accessories off, and with my lights
on and my stereo cranked, it's around 8-900.
