That certainly makes sense.... Oh ok, taking the pre amps off the deck
will bypass any internal amp. Yes, that internal amp will begin
distorting the signal at the top end gain, i.e. turning the volume
up.... However, for more power you should rely on a separate amp, not
the volume on the radio.... You can still receive a clean signal from
the amp in the deck, just don't whale on the volume button and use those
loud control things..... You should be able to successfully pass the
amped stuff into a secondary amp and still have a sweet sound. Of
course, you want you deck to be of a descent quality first. The radio
is still in control of that signal bottom line, pre-amped or not.... My
opinion, get your windows tented and a kick ass alarm, cuz the first
thief that hears you bumbin down the road. Will be the first one to try
and jack your ass..... They even stole my back up tools in the car
(hope I never break down....), bastards.... Now I don't even leave my
dirty socks in the car, hahahahaha.....

In reference to the sound quality preamp vs. amp issue, the
reason you
want to use preamp outputs whenever possible is because with the
space and
financial constraints of building a head unit, it is
impossible/unlikely
to have a quality amplifier built into a head unit. In fact,
almost all
top-end units have NO amplifier at all. The lower-quality
amplifier in
the head unit adds much more distortion (typically) than a
well-built
(separate) amplifier would, so your overal sound, given the same
low-level
input, is more distorted. Bottom line is, the best sound
quality is going
to come from a clean head unit through a low-level output to a
quality
        amp.
