I tried two runs doing the O/D play around thing.... I think the 15.40
was with it off and I kicked it in at the end. The second time I forgot
to shift into fourth and pulled a 15.44.... Funny though, I ran the
slowest MPH on the 15.40, had a better 60' and R/T. I noticed if I left
it in O/D off it won't run well at the end???? I did a street drag with
O/D off once, same thing. The other Dak started to catch my ass???? Of
course he had the 5 speed. She is fast off the line and hooks up ok,
just begins to choke at the 1/8. I have about two weeks to work on a
plan... Rumor Alert....I met a '98 Dak Sport last night. Quotes best
time at 15.0.... Chopped off the muffler for a 3" pipe and a conical
K&N. I saw him get excited and spin way too hard through first and into
second.... Ran a 16.5+, oops, hahahahahaha.... Saw a Mercury
Mountaineer run a 15.5, not bad.... Lotus Esprit Turbo 4 banger running
13.8s.... More juice burning imports and Datsuns than I cared to see...
Two VWs running very well. The Datsuns (sp ???) were killing me....
Off the line, rev it up, then POP POP....Ugh, I hate that whiny popping
noise...

So Jason, did you turn the O/D off during your runs? Saves at
least a
1/10th sometimes as much as 3. Also put your shifter in 2nd and
manually
shift to 3rd, gets the rpm a little further into the power band
for the
2-3 shift. But don't get excited and forget to shift , rev
limiter and
loser light (none) for you. Alan S.
