Thanks for the info. I have to try something. After 260 mile I had to put my
first tank of gas in her!! 19.6 gals!! I didn't think that gas pump would ever
stop!!! My mpg is approx. 13.26, not bad I guess for a V8. I don't have the
nerve to bring her back to the dealer with 260 miles on the odometer just for
the rough idle, especially since I hear it is basically normal. I will try
shielding the coil wire fist. If this helps great, if not, then I will try
replacing all the wires with a "Quality" set. Any other ideas regarding this
rough idle will be greatly appreciate.
Thanks,

I have found a possible do it yourself cure for the rough idle problem.
I've had the same problem since the truck was new, but the dealers told
me they couldn't find anything wrong w/ it. I decided to get the Truck
Plugs and try them out. When it was nice and dark I went out to see if
any of the wires were leaking (if they were I would replace them also).
Everything was fine except for the coil to distributor wire. It had a
nice arc going on to the valve cover (the wire rests up against it),
about 5" long. Tried to pull it away to no avail. Got an idea to get
some conduit off of some old wires I had laying around to insulate the
wire. I split it down the middle, took off of old wires, and slid on to
my trucks wire. Mine was arcing at the front of the valve cover closer
to the coil than dis. .
Drove it around some last night to see if it helped, noticed a
little diff. Got in this morning to go to work, and it is a completely
diff. truck. Nice smooth idle, easier take-offs (it likes second gear
starts now), and a lot more power. I am probably getting more mileage,
but the new found power has me on the gas a little more. If you have the
rough-idle problem check out this solution, and get back to me so I'll
know if mine was just a freak occurrence. Hope it helps.
