way to skin a cat

I read in an article about OBDII that the only data the computer needs from
the after cat O2 sensor is the frequency of its oscillation. Apparently, as
the main O2 sensor cycles from lean to rich endlessly, the condition of the
cat affects the downstream sensor in such a way that the frequency is
different from that of the upstream sensor.
If someone could scan this frequency, and artificially create it, we may be
able to do away with that evil feline(for off-road use only, of course).
Doing away with that last piece of restriction may not be all that great,
however. Some back-pressure is needed. How much? Who knows?
