That could be caused by a low fluid level in the tranny.

Subject: DML: Slipping transmission

Has anyone else experienced their transmission (4 spd auto) slipping when
it's cold. Happened to me Thursday morning on the way to work-- it was cold
here (OK, 28 deg. Fahrenheit-- that's cold for So. Cal!) Started up fine but
seemed to keep slipping between 2nd and 3rd. I got her on the freeway and
the problem went away after things began to warm up.

Anyone else experience this, or am I seeing the signs of transmission
problems?
