My '97' Sport has had this same problem from the get-go. In fact, it slipped
on the way home from the dealer the first time I drove it. I thought it was
normal. Since then, the problem has been VERY intermittent. It may go weeks
without doing it, then every morning for a week. I live in a mild climate so
it has nothing to do with weather conditions. The dealer, of course, says
there's nothing wrong and noone else has complained. As you said, it works
fine after it gets warm so I've gotten used to it after 44,000 miles.
