The main advantage that a manual has over an auto is that you can select
your shift points more easily - the converters on the auto are generally
changed to account for this, but the shift kits also help. The shift kit
mainly firms up shifts by speeding up the actuation between bands. This
produces "hard" shifts, but also makes the tranny more durable since there
is less slippage occurring between bands.
