It all depends on how much boost you want. In this case, think of turbos and
blowers as the same animal; @5-7 psi boost the stock engine will do just fine.
The higher you go the more goodies you need to add to the engine. The
intercooler adds power to both turbos and blowers. O-ringed heads,gaskets and
pistons are insurance against damage caused by detonation. If you avoid
detonation(and you should), the stock pistons,gaskets,etc. will do just fine.
In both turbos and blowers(and NO2 also), fuel and timing control is the
difference between vroom and boom.
