that's what I usually do too, but sometimes they just keep tryin' =) it takes
a few lights for them to realize that they aren't gonna' miraculously gain
the 40 or 50 Hp it's gonna' take to win =)

IMHO, a simple tap of the brake pedal which would light up the brake
lights
would be a signal to the loser that the race is over and he'd been
spanked. If
he's beside you and can't see your brake lights, it's not really a spank.
