All engines will get some carbon build-up in the combustion chambers after a
few miles, thereby slightly increasing the compression ratio. This could be
what's contributing to your new-found ping. Try running a coupla cans
fuel-injector cleaner thru the tank. I've a feeling that these R/T engines
are a little higher performance, esp. with mods. Remember the old
musclecars? You had to go out and punch 'em every now & then to 'blow the
carbon out', to keep them running good. Just a thought......
