The TSB only covers a pretty small number of vehicles. We found this out
the hard way. Took it in to the dealer to ask about it, and the
professional (ahem) service advisor looked at it, saw it was from the US and
basically told me I was making sh*t up, and that the US TSB's don't apply to
Canadian vehicles because Canadian safety standards are different. They
punched the VIN number in to the computer and came up with nothing.
I went home, spent two minutes with Yahoo and Transport Canada's web site,
and found that there is in fact a recall in Canada for the same problem. I
called up said professional service advisor and blasted him for treating me
like a six year old, and asked why it is that I know more about his job than
he does.
Then we called Chrysler Canada to ask about the recall. They said it only
applied to a couple of hundred trucks in Canada, and ours wasn't one of
them. They wouldn't give out the exact build dates that it does affect,
claimed it was "confidential."
Thank you, Chrysler's lawyers.
