I went to the TX Motorplex tonight and, you guessed it, NO RANGERS!
Mmmmm Hmmm, that's what I thought.
As for me, I am running a weekly bracket series sponsered by TOYO tires.
Tonight was my second week to race, and also my second time EVER to
"bracket" race.
After 2 test & tune runs, 1 of which was another late model Mustang GT
4.6 SPANK, I decide to sandbag a little and dial in a 14.70. I usually
run 1-2 tenths quicker.
1st round: WIN .521rt 14.80 on a 14.70 dial. On the brakes in the traps
to keep from breaking out.
2nd round: WIN .667rt 14.88 on a 14.70 dial. On the brakes again.
Final Round and I'm in it!!! Now here's the kicker, my opponent is
driving a 2 week old '99 R/T cc that I haven't seen before, still has
paper tags. An all R/T final round, what luck! Too cool!
His index is 16.00 against my 14.7, so he get's a good head start and he
cuts a .531 rt. I've got work to do to catch this guy, and I try too
hard for a .499 red light! He broke out too with a 15.84 on the 16.0
dial. Red light by 1/1000 of a second! I was mad at myself, because I
could have cut a slower light and won. But felt better again when I was
presented a nice Runner Up trophy, T shirt and certificate. Runner Up,
that sounds so much better than 2nd place, doesn't it?
Well that's it, I'm bushed. It's 1:20 AM, I'm going to go dream about
winning this thing.
