A rule of thumb I picked up from a mechanic friend of mine is that you can
mix weights, but NEVER mix brands. The reason for this is that different
companies use different additives, and they can sometimes attack and break
each other down, leaving excess sludge, and taking away the detergent
properties of your $$$ oil.
