Yeah, a blown V8 would kick the blown 4, but it wouldn't handle as well.
Weight in the bed might help rear-wheel traction, but, generally speaking,
as for handling, weight is a bad thing - you always want to be as light as
possible. Softer springs will help rear-end handling over rough roads, and
there is no weight penalty.
As mentioned in a later post, the V8 does produce a lot more torque, and at
lower elevations, I would definitely go with the V8 and try to make up for
poorer handling with "power-on" oversteer. In the mountains, however, a
blown engine always has the advantage.
