can you run slicks without tubes ?

Well , I went down to have my slicks mounted on factory Dakota 15x8" rims
today and one problem .

Slick tubes have threaded valves to be locked onto the rim to keep the
tube/valve from spinning as the tire might .

Well , these valves are way too big in diameter to fit thru the factory
valve openings .

The tire shop just mounted the slicks without the tubes .

Anyone see a problem with this since I am not putting out a major amount of
HP on them ?
