Its not exactly taking in cold air. I bet the mechanic is right. When runing
at op temp, all you get is hot air to burn. The stock system takes in some
outside air. The engine compartment is pretty darn sealed tight. Cold air
kits have proven to incease hp especially with hood scoops.
