What you are describing are the classic symptoms of a mic that has a short
in (usually) the connector (the same symptoms can appear with a short in
the mic itself). I used to see this all the time when I was truck driving,
where CBs get a lot of use and abuse. Unless you're handy soldering small
connections, just bite the bullet and get another mic :-(
