I am doing ram air testing now...

I am testing out the bay in my dak for possible ram air. I have a true
ram air 72 Mustang and it seals the carb to the hood, which is vented.
What I am going to do is test different areas in the engine bay
(radiator support) and windshield base for temperature and air
pressure. Obviously, the lower temp and high pressure the better.

My 93 set up is the old round air cleaner vented to the front through a
small vent next to the radiator. Other than a bug/stone deflector and a
cap shell, it's 100% stock. One point I'm curious about stems from my
noticing that there is not a lot of air moving across the top of the
hood. I have a bug deflector and anyone with one who watches the rain
on their windshield can tell that the air hits the windshield at a weird
angle and under a lot of turbulence and I really wonder if there is
enough pressure there to be worthy. I have the instruments to do this,
so I'll put some numbers together and let you know what I find.

Another point I'd like to make is someone mentioned using a carb-like
spacer to cool the throttle body - well the reason carb spacers are used
is to keep the gas cool that is inside the baby-sized bowl in the carb.
With the fuel being injected, a spacer would not really help.

Anyway, I'm gonna play with it over the weekend and lets see what turns
out to be good places to grab pressure!!

Later guys...
Kevin
