I know 4 wheel drive doesn't help braking. That was just a general comment.
I'm pretty sure it's just the extra weight of the V8 and front suspension.
When I hit the breaks and the nose dives alittle, it must put a heck of a lot
of pressure on those front tires.

If you want to improve your handling in the snow, get rid of the Goodyears and
get 4 narrow studded snow tires. 4 wheel drive does absolutely nothing to
improve braking in the snow...if fact it can be worse due to drive line lock-up
 (RWABS).
