I heard a funny news report last winter. This was the first(and only) big snow storm(that lasted 2 hours, then it all melted). All these SUV owners were finding themselves embedded in guard rails, and several Jeep owners were destroying their trannys. They told the news reporter that they show in the commercials that these vehicles can fly through the snow. "I didn't think I had anything to worry about". How does the saying go? DUH!!!!

Not necessarily, you can downshift and take advantage of the engine slowing
the vehicle through the engagement of all the wheels. Of course this only
applies if you don't have 4 wheel ABS in which case slamming on the brakes
and letting the ABS do it's job is a better bet.
