10" FABM ?

I've noticed that some of us are removing their 10" setups because of poor
hot weather performance. I experienced this today. Was out in 100deg. NJ heat
with a/c on, I have a '99 318 CC Sport+ auto, I'm using the 10" FABM with
home-made ram-air setup( 2 - 3 ft. pieces of expandable aluminum tubing{got @
Home depot}, one going thru rubber next to p/s rad., other tucked down behind
battery, both w/ screens, tie-strapped to hit sides of air cleaner; total
cost was $17). Was wondering if I should get a 14" , or would it do the same
thing? Seems I'm getting twice the forced air with my setup than those
right-side cone setups. Is it just the result of open-element cleaners in
general, and if so, then why hasn't anyone mentioned it years ago? Or is my
10" rig too small for a 318? Hope someone can help. P.S. Thanks to both Bobs
for advice on the fan thing. Decided to go with the dual 12" Flexalite.
