A caliper isn't a "wear item" and it's failure caused the pad to wear
prematurely. They should have replaced both the caliper and the pads at
no charge. Problem is, like many borderline warranty issues, they will
push just as much as you allow them. I would have given the service
writer all of 1 minute to offer me a satisfactory explanation for his
call and then I would start moving up the food chain within the service
dept. If I hadn't gotten a good answer by the time I reached the general
manager of the dealership, I'd be looking for the 800 number to register
a very loud complaint with DC directly.

$190 for a rotor!? Even at this point, I'd be taking it up with them. If
it's not already obvious, I have very, very little patience for a
company that I'm paying 25K to for a new vehicle who then want to jerk
me around for $100-$150 worth of parts(their cost) and less than an hour
of a mechanics time over something like that. I'd be discussing it with
them in the most firm manner possible without getting belligerent.

Don't stand for that crap. If my tranny blows up and takes out the
clutch plate, are you going to tell me I'm paying for that plate which
is a "wear item"? Major suspension failure causes a tire to go into the
fender destroying it, and you call it a "wear item" that's not covered?
You get the picture. Tell me what's the difference between any of those
and what you experienced.

Bob
