Truman Trekell on the Dakota RT list is compiling a list of people
interested in a class action suit (over 50 people so far). If you're
interested, e-mail your full name and e-mail address to
trekellt@auseea.com. Note that Truman is doing this in his
(non-existant) spare time, so _please don't_ flood him with questions,
etc. He's sending periodic mailings to the list he's compiling.

Here's the most recent mailing:
--- This is to inform you that we now have almost 50 respondents for info regarding a potential class action suit agains DC regarding the towing issue. Please encourage other list members to join us so we present a united front.I think most of us would prefer to settle without going through a legal battle and in the end letting the lawyers get most of the award, if any.
This e-mail is for several reasons:
1. I need your first and last names, which about 98% of you have provided already. If you didn't receive an e-mail requesting your name - don't concern yourself with that.
2. I'm making sure that all the e-mail addresses were copied correctly by sending one out to see if any are returned - no action required from you.
3. Please keep any and all potential valuable case evidence safe for the time being. IF we decide to go ahead with a class action, the attorneys will be contacting you via your e-mail. Otherwise I will not abuse this list. Your e-mail will not be given out to anyone else.
4. I would like to know if you would like to see if we can negotiate a compensation settlement as a group without entering into legal action ? I think we might be better off asking the law firm to try negotiating for us first without overtly threatening a lawsuit. Just for example, say they were willing to do that for 1/3 of the settlement without a lawsuit (which is a gamble and takes a long time). They would pay all parties an equal portion of the settlement to do with as you like.
That is one idea! I really like my R/T, but feel DC should compensate because the vehicle is not what they advertised, however, I will proceed at the direction of the group.
I'm doing this on my own time of course and am alone without secretarial help, so please assist me by not going into great detail about unreasonable desires or responding in anger. It won't get us anywhere with anyone. Let's be wise and reasonable. Thanks
Please let me know briefly what you think.
