Jon's truck

The things I've done already to try to fix this problem are:

replaced fuel pump module (prior to getting a fuel pressure guage)
    replaced distributor pickup
tried using a different relay in the starter relay slot

I'm starting to think this may be an ignition or coil problem. I
thought
I'd post here to see if anyone had any ideas before I try to explain
this
to the dealer. :-)

-Jon, your symptoms sound like a bad IAC motor, someone else had these
problems last week. However, yours is different in the fact that you
said it wouldnt restart after sitting for a little while. There was a
TSB for IAC motors, but I dont think that it went up to '96. For peace
of mind, you may want to get the part # off of your iac and call the
dealer parts department and ask if that part # has been
updated/upgraded/revised.
When the truck wouldnt start, did you try holding the gas pedal all
the way down to the floor (not pumping it like a carbed motor) And
also, since I'm still in mechanic mode since I just got home from work-I
have to know if you checked your computer for codes? The first thing I
always do is start there and work off of that.
You may find an IAC code, a temp sender code, an ASD code, or many
others that will cause symptoms such as what you state.
