The problem is displacement and engine tuning. It is easier to get more
hp/torque from a larger engine. Cammers are *usually* tuned to take
advantage of "revability". They could also be tuned for torque. A better
Ford comparison would be the 427 vs. 427 SOHC.
They used the same basic block, this cammer engine would rip the tires off
your wheels (if it didn't snap your axles) off the line and keep on going to
statospheric revs.
Chrysler *chose* to make the 4.7 less powerful than the 5.2. And that's why

the 5.2 is a better truck motor.
