emission laws and stupid crap!

This is exactly correct. You want to talk exotic... How about
this.
A guy at my mechanics has an '82 Grand Cherokee Full Size. Under
the hood lurks a Chevy small block 420ci that puts out well over
800hp with a supercharger and runs 13.1's. It's fuel injected and
passes emissions. It not only passed... it had some of the lowest
emissions readings we've ever seen... on ANY YEAR of vehicle.
This includes the Rabbits and Jettas of the world. Granted the
motor alone is worth over $60,000 but this just shows that it can
be done. You can have a hi-po machine and pass "the test" too.
It's just that the more hi-po you go, the more bucks it costs.
