that's funny- I have exactly the same problem on my '99 CC 4x4

I'll be taking it to the dealer since it's under warranty

If it's still under warranty take it to the dealer and let them do it. If
not, there is a wire that connects the shift lever with the indicator. It
has an adjustment thingee on it. You will have to remove the dash to get to
it. I can't give you any more detail about it, but if you'll check the DML
archives, there has been discussion in the past about it.
