2nd Gen and 3rd Gen parts compatiability

Sorry long post ahead....

I have a question...hope Gary Pinkly (sorry if misspelled) is reding
this. Has anyone ever checked to see if the front coil springs and rear
leaf springs on a '97+ dak are the same or very compatible with the same
parts on a '87 - '96 dak? I really like the lowering kit that I saw on
Gary's truck in this month's Sport Truck. I emailed Hotchkis and they
said they don't make a kit and don't plan on offering a kit for the '87
- '96 daks but if the later kit fits then what would it hurt. Here is
the criteria:

(1) The front springs must be the same as factory so that the 2"
lowering springs in the Hotchkis kit will work. Since the engine lineup
is the same it should be about the same weight load.

(2) The rear leaf springs have to meet the same criteria as the front.
Fitting perfectly and weight load so the kit springs will again work.

(3) If these 3 things work how hard would it be to get a set of tuned
shocks like in their kit for the '87 - '96 daks?

This is just a thought for us earlier model year guys who want to lower
our trucks without using blocks. I thought this might work since alot of
other auto makers parts are interchangeable through different model
years and body styles. Whoever on the list works for the design dept.
(sorry about the name) maybe you could do a little checking to see how
this might work. Thinking of how bad I would like to lower my truck and
not use blocks.
