Jon, when I owed a many old motorcycles--still have one (77 goldwing) that
leaked like a sieve--Harleys,Indians,BSA,etc. The best trick I gave to
people was take a sharp pointed object(awl, knife, nail) and SCRIBE a deep
gouge into the center(between the edges) of a cover. Then when you attach
the gasket, the groove will hold and the gasket will form into the groove and
create a better leak prevention than all the gasket sealant available. Of
course this will only work if the transfer gear box is aluminum.
