I have to agree with you Mike. I just recently returned from a trip out
west and in coming through Iowa on I-80 we stopped at the world's largest
truck stop (TA). I overheard three professional drivers saying that they
have no use for a power mic, it was just one more useless add-on that will
break. And it doesn't make a difference anyway.

Having heard literally hundreds if not thousands of CBs from my truck
driving days, IMHO, a power mic is a total waste of money. I've heard the
same unit with and without a power mic and units with everything from
no-name flea market mics to expensive name brand mics. There may be
detectable differences on the bench, but the practical differences in the
field are minimal at best. I defy anybody to tune to ch.19 and pick out
which transmissions are using power mics and which are not.
