Steve
I'm not sold on using electric fans especially with the experience I had
recently. I added a 16" perma-cool fan to my son'a Explorer 4.0 that's only
slightly modified and even running full time, at low speeds the engine still
ran much hotter than normal. Prior to the installation, we were running a
180 degree thermstat and the operating temperature rarely went past the "N"
on "NORMAL". After the install, it ran fine as long as speeds were above 35
mph. At low speeds or with extended idling, the temperature would increase
to the "L" or hotter. I had the system flushed added new antifreeze, even
added water wetter with no improvement. I had to finally take it off and
sent it back to Summit for a refund. I had also planned to install the dual
12" fans, but I'm hesitant to do so now.
